libhdfeos5-ruby software package provides Transitional package for ruby-hdfeos5, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libhdfeos5-ruby
libhdfeos5-ruby is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libhdfeos5-ruby package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libhdfeos5-ruby *
